The brain and spinal cord control our movement and sensation. Injuries to the brain or spinal cord can cause death of the cells that control certain movements and sensations, and therefore result to lose function.
Physical therapy is very important for patients who have had or who are currently suffering from neurological diseases or injuries such as:
• Balanced Disorder/Ataxia
• Spinal Cord Injury/Paraplegia
• Parkinson's Disease
• Multiple Sclerosis
• Neuromuscular Dystrophy
• Cerebral Palsy
• Bell's Palsy
• TMJ Dysfunction
Absence of physical therapy following a neurological injury, patients may lose many functions and unable to perform certain activities. Decreased activity leads to many other health problems such as heart problems, lung problems, diabetes, decreased independence, and an overall poor quality of life.
Following diagnosis by a physician, at King Rehab Center our physical therapist will develop a comprehensive evaluation of function and issues related to maintaining function and independence. Your therapy will be focused on gaining your independence without compromising your safety. The treatment will be individualized to improve your mobility and function, to strengthen and achieve movement control and to finally to be able to walk as independently as possible.
